After almost 3 years of waiting, I finally watched the film “The Bridge”. “The Bridge” is a documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco. Apparently, The Golden Gate Bridge is the #1 location in the world for people to commit suicide. Check out the trailer:

For ‘The Bridge”, the filmmakers shot video of the Golden Gate Bridge 24/7 for an entire year. They captured several actual suicides (and attempted suicides) on film. I know what you are thinking. “That’s awful… creepy and disturbing… not to mention depressing”. Yes. You’re right. “The Bridge” is one of the most gut-wrenching movies that I’ve ever seen. However, there is a point to the anguish.

Aside from the fact that the cinematography is breath-taking, “The Bridge” is also an excellent narrative about the selfishness of suicide. The film features numerous interviews with family members of the deceased. Some of the families had come to terms with the intentional death of their loved ones. However, others still dealt with an enormous amount of pain and suffering that comes from losing someone you know.

I would definitely suggest it… as long as you are alright with having an awful night.

The film is available for streaming on Hulu.
